FAQs
How long is each session?
Each private session is approximately 1–1.5 hours. Troy takes the time needed to make sure you understand your dog, the cause of the behavior, and exactly what you should practice between sessions. The goal is not just to train your dog during the appointment, but to give you the knowledge to create lasting change at home.
Does Training With Troy use aversive methods?
Training With Troy focuses on natural communication, relationship-building, structure, and clear leadership. Our goal is always to help owners communicate effectively with their dogs without relying on tools alone.
For dogs displaying serious aggression or when communication has broken down, appropriate training tools may be introduced and demonstrated responsibly and with safety as a priority. Every dog is different, and more serious cases may require additional precautions.
The ultimate goal is to build a relationship based on trust, respect, communication, and leadership—not dependence on equipment.
What should I expect from the first session?
Every session is built around your dog and your specific concerns.
1. Assess & Evaluate
We identify the root of the behavior and what may be contributing to it.
2. Guided Exercises
Troy demonstrates structured exercises designed around your dog’s needs.
3. Owner Coaching
You learn how to perform the exercises yourself so you can communicate consistently with your dog.
4. Plan & Follow-Up Support
You leave with a clear plan for what to practice and how to move forward, along with support for troubleshooting challenges that may arise.
How much does training cost?
Training With Troy provides professional behavior coaching and customized behavior modification programs, with pricing based on the level of support your dog requires.
For clients who qualify, payment plans and installment options are available through our financing partners. Our goal is to provide flexible payment options so the cost of getting professional help doesn’t have to prevent an owner from addressing their dog’s behavior.
Every dog deserves a plan. Every owner deserves to know what to do next.
