DRAIN THE ENERGY BEFORE IT TURNS INTO DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR!

A lot of people come to me looking for advice about their dogs, and the truth is, many behavioral problems can be improved with something as simple as consistent daily physical exercise and mental stimulation.

In this clip, Rip, the French Bulldog, is biting on the leash. Why? Because that pent-up energy needs an outlet. When a dog isn’t getting enough opportunities to exercise their body and engage their mind, that excess energy can show up as impulsive behavior, leash biting, jumping, chewing, excessive barking, and other unwanted habits.

Here’s something every dog owner needs to understand: Dogs need appropriate outlets for their energy. If you don’t give them productive ways to use it, they may find their own ways to release it — and you might not like the results!

My advice?

Get your dog moving every day.

Incorporate mental stimulation, problem-solving, and enrichment activities.

Give your dog structured activities that encourage focus and self-control.

Make sure your dog gets adequate rest and recovery, too.

Remember, it’s not just about tiring your dog out. It’s about creating the right balance between physical activity, mental engagement, structure, and calmness.
